Home Health Aide Jobs
Home Health Aide (HHA) is a certified professional with substantial training. Under the supervision of a nurse, HHAs are trained to perform tasks such as changing dressings or assisting with the administration of prescribed medications. Home care assignments are typically more independent settings, and on-site nursing supervision may not be available, so these tasks are comparatively rare. Home health aides care for physically, mentally or emotionally ill or injured people in the client’s home. Under the supervision of medical staff, home health aides may take vital signs, keep rooms neat, and help patients move, dress and bathe.
Mobility support including transfers exceeding 50% of the body weight may be necessary, so training in both proper technique and use of durable medical equipment like Hoyer Lift is also required. Patients may be recently discharged from the hospital and only need short-term care, or require extensive care that friends and family are unable to provide.
Other duties may include: assistance with activities of daily living, bathing, dressing, eating, light housecleaning or household chores, such as grocery shopping, running errands and preparing meals, and transportation to appointments. For more detail on being a Home Health Aide.

Supportive Care Aide Jobs
Supportive Home Care Aides help clients with Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementia (ADRD) needs, or for clients with other significant behavioral health challenges. While regular home care might be appropriate for an individual in the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease or some types of behavioral problems, as the disease progresses, more advanced care is needed from specially-trained caregivers. Training is available for those caregivers who are interested in providing this special service.
Caregivers offer the same assistance as a Home Health Aide but dementia or behavioral health caregivers are familiar with the various stages of the disease or symptom, how it manifests, common behaviors that are seen. Caregivers use strategies to adequately deal with it while addressing safety issues related to dementia. Care plans are established to focus on the likes, dislikes, and personality of the individual with dementia, and activities are planned accordingly to stimulate one’s memory. This may include looking at photo albums, listening to music, doing an art project, or reading.
Other duties may include: bathing, brushing hair and teeth, dressing, using the bathroom, meal preparation, and medication reminders. For more detail on being a Supportive Care Aide.
