CAREGIVER TRAINING FOR FREE

Connected Home Care offers free training for new hires and existing employees. If you have an interest in becoming a caregiver we will train you for free before you begin working with clients.  

Our training programs provide you with Massachusetts state certification along with in-home experience.  Our programs are for those who are new to the caregiving professions or those who are looking to advance their career to earn more and work on more challenging cases.

Caregiver Certification Matters:

Companion & Homemaking Personal Care Home Health Aide Supportive Aide
Companion & Homemaking
This is our core caregiver certification program which provides the basic level of training needed for success in a variety of care settings.  
Training: Includes 12 hours of online training on essential topics and prepares new caregivers for a role as a homemaker and companion and required 40 hours of hands-on in the field experience.
Prerequisite: none
This prepares individuals who are new to caregiving for a role as a Companion and Homemaker who are seeking to become a home care professional.
Personal Care
This training is an advanced program for those new to home care.  Personal Care Certification includes both Homemaking and Companion certification while offering a caregiver the ability to provide even more care to clients.  While one's earnings will increase at this level the reward is often found more in the ability to offer more valuable care to your clients. 
You’ll be able to assist clients to complete activities of daily living such as exercise, walking, bathing, and grooming.
This certification is appropriate both for the paid, professional caregiver as well as for family caregivers who are stepping into caregiving roles for loved ones.
20 hours of classroom and includes Companion and Homemaking
Home Health Aide
This training program teaches how to provide outstanding personal care for clients who need assistance for a variety of reasons including illness, advanced age, disability, or cognitive impairment.  A typical day for a home health aide can vary greatly depending on the needs of the client but are called out in the client's care plan. Home health aides typically provide a variety of skilled services across the following areas: 
  • companion care tasks such as socialization and cognitive exercise.
  • homemaking care tasks such as errands and light housekeeping duties such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
  • personal care tasks such as bathing, eating, moving, or going to the bathroom.
  • home health tasks such as traveling with a client to assist with doctor appointments, monitoring vital signs, assist with taking medications, and other very basic non-medical tasks.
Training:  75-hour home health aide training plus
Prerequisite: Companion & Homemaking Certificate Suggested but not required
Designed for: Assisted Living, Home Care, family members providing care for individuals who need the services described above, and individuals seeking to become a home care professional.
Supportive Aide
This training program teaches how to provide outstanding Supportive home care with things such as meal preparation; shopping; menu planning; laundry and housekeeping; personal care; escort services; socialization and emotional support. These services are provided to clients with emotional or behavioral problems.  Supportive Home health aides typically provide a variety of skilled services across the following areas: 
  • companion care tasks such as socialization and cognitive exercise.
  • homemaking care tasks such as errands and light housekeeping duties such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
  • personal care tasks such as bathing, eating, moving, or going to the bathroom.
  • home health tasks such as traveling with a client to assist with doctor appointments, monitoring vital signs, assist with taking medications, and other very basic non-medical tasks.
  • supportive care tasks such as specialized care focused on Mental Health or Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Course Description:  75-hour home health aide training plus an additional 12 hours related to the responsibilities of the Supportive Home Care Aide.  There are two Supportive Home Care Aide Training tracks: Mental Health or Alzheimer’s care,  
Additionally, caregivers are expected to perform a minimum of 12 hours per year of in-service training.
Prerequisite: HHA Certificate or you can take the full 87-hour course.
Designed for: Assisted Living, Home Care, family members providing care for individuals who need the services described above, and individuals seeking to become a home care professional.
